The Upper Tiber Valley: the Museum Valley

The Upper Tiber Valley is the area situated in the most northern Umbrian part. It has always had close cultural and social contacts with the neighbouring regions, Tuscany and Marches. It is composed of eight districts with a considerable artistic and cultural heritage. Historical palaces, churches, abbeys and parish churches house works by Raffaello, Piero della Francesca, Signorelli, Della Robbia, Vasari and many other artists, who left here important traces of their talent. Celebrations and events of national importance are organised here during the year involving music, arts and crafts, sport, folklore and gastronomy (the local cuisine is based on woodland products, especially mushrooms and truffles) and attract lots of tourists every year.
